Take the first step towards SAP S/4HANA with the introduction of SAP Business Partner

The SAP Business Partner is the superordinate business object for mapping all business relationships between a company and a person, an organization or a group. It has already been used in the background in strategic modules such as SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) or Treasury and Risk Management (SAP TRM).

With the introduction of SAP S/4HANA, the relevance of the SAP Business Partner has increased significantly and its use has been mandatory for customer and supplier master data since SAP Release 1511. As part of the system conversion from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA or a new SAP S/4HANA implementation, the existing customer and vendor master data must be synchronized with the SAP Business Partner. This is ensured by Customer Vendor Integration (CVI for short). It is used during the initial synchronization as well as during ongoing operation for the continuous updating of the table contents behind the customer, vendor and business partner business objects.

We recommend introducing the SAP Business Partner before your SAP S/4HANA project and thus before the critical project phases. This is due to the time required for the mandatory cleansing, enrichment and archiving of your master data if it does not meet the minimum requirements for the initial synchronisation. If you meet the minimum requirements, the synchronisation of customer/vendor to the SAP Business Partner can take place as part of the system upgrade.
